SUMMARY:

When you stay at Balcony Suite you can wander the colorful streets of Old San Juan to experience the finest museums and attractions including breathtaking cathedrals and world-renowned historic forts of Puerto Rico. The suite has 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, a futon, and a recently renovated kitchen. This stylish home offers high ceilings and fine finishes as well as a balcony that overlooks the Plaza. It has a combination of old-world colonial structural and Spanish architectural design. Modern amenities such as air conditioning, an updated kitchen, wifi, and TV. The location is ideal for those looking to be close to the action in Old San Juan, next to restaurants, shops, nightlife and all that you need to see in this beautiful historic city. The suite comfortably sleeps 2 adults in the bedroom’s king-size bed. This is a historic building in a 400-year-old city and as a result, it has original, distressed floors throughout.

 

COVID-19 NOTES:

1) PRE-ARRIVAL COVID TESTING: The Governor announced on June 30th that every person traveling to Puerto Rico from July 15th onwards should arrive with a negative COVID-19 test result or will have to take a COVID-19 test at the airport. Travelers with positive test results will have to stay at their rented property for the duration of their stay, or 14 days. The test result has to be from no more than 72 hours prior to arrival on the island.
 
2) COMMON AREAS: Some common areas in many communities are still closed due to COVID-19. This could include pools, tennis courts, and children parks. Please reach out to us if you would like to know the status of a common area prior to booking. 
 
3) MASKS: Masks are mandatory when in public. Please be ready to bring masks for your stay. 
 
4) CLEANING PROCEDURES: We have updated our cleaning procedures to include industry best practices in response to COVID-19. We are using disinfectant cleaning products on all surfaces and are programming a 24 hour gap between check-outs and check-ins. Our cleaning staff wears PPE during the entire cleaning and disinfecting process. 
 
5) MONTHLY RATES: We have monthly and longer term rates available if you are interested in an extended stay at a fully furnished, turn key property. Please reach out for pricing and availability. 
 

 

LIVING AREAS:

As soon as you enter the Balcony Suite you are exposed to rich mahogany beams and beautiful checkered floors to modern comforts. The layout encompasses a living room and dining area and a separate kitchen. The high ceilings are an iconic design feature of the colonial architecture Old San Juan is famous for.

The Suite features a 4 person dining area right beside the kitchen; which makes it practical for entertaining. The kitchen is equipped with a stovetop, microwave, fridge, and stocked with everything you would need for an extended stay. The living room has a sofa and a flat-screen TV. There is central air conditioning throughout the apartment.

 

SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS:

Balcony Suite has one bedroom that comfortably sleeps 2 adults. The bedroom has a king bed, air conditioning, and access to a full bathroom. The bedroom is appointed with fresh linens for a good night’s sleep. It also has a full closest and full-size drawer. There is also a futon in the living room.

 

KITCHEN:

Balcony Suite kitchen is small but comfortable and was just updated with new cabinets and countertops. You will surely spend time cooking in this beautiful kitchen. The kitchen has a coffee maker, stovetop, microwave, and fridge. We include enough paper towels, trash bags, and dish soap for guests to comfortably start their stay.  

 

LOCATION:

Staying in Old San Juan is a truly unique experience filled with charm and character. From the property, you can comfortably walk anywhere within Old San Juan. The apartment is located on one of the quieter streets but still steps away from all the action. We recommend taking a cab from the airport and using Uber or taxi while you stay at Old San Juan. Renting a car is not necessary unless you are planning on road tripping. This is a truly walkable location with everything you need a short walk away. The apartment does not include parking. Nonetheless, there are convenient parking lots close to the apartment.  

There are many things to do in the surrounding areas, here are some of our favorites, all within walking distance:

  • Explore the El Morro Fort. There are daily tours of the fort and the large green areas have spectacular ocean views. Take a tour, have a picnic, and fly a kite. This is a must-do.
  • Explore the iconic Calle San Sebastian nightlife. There is a large assortment of bars on this strip which is a favorite among locals on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.
  • Breakfast at “La Bombonera”. This is a Puerto Rican landmark well known for its locally inspired breakfast and pastries.
  • Savor Stuffed Avocado. Healthy and “trendy” spot where you can create your own avocado bowl.
  • Take a stroll around “Paseo La Princesa”, a waterfront walkway which you can start off at El Morro and finish of the walk with a rum tasting at Princesa Gastrobar at the end of the trail.

 

AMENITIES:

West Indies strives to deliver top-notch service and amenities to guarantee our guests feel at home while visiting our properties. All of our properties are outfitted with freshly laundered bed linens and towels. We provide 2 bath towels per guest and 1 beach/pool towel per guest. Our properties typically include at least 2 beach chairs and an ice cooler.

West Indies provides the disposable amenities necessary to get your vacation off to a comfortable start. These amenities include 1 set of hotel size soaps and shampoos per bathroom, 3 garbage bags, 2 rolls of paper towel, 2 rolls of toilet paper per bathroom, 1 dish soap, 1 dish sponge, and a small amount of laundry detergent. We do not provide unlimited disposable amenities. It is your responsibility to review what is included in the property and stock with whatever else may be needed for the duration of your stay. 

 

HOUSEKEEPING:

The advertised cleaning fee covers cleaning before check-in and after check-out.  Daily housekeeping can be requested at an additional cost of $60.00 per night. Daily housekeeping must be requested immediately after booking and it is subject to availability. 

 

HOUSE RULES: 

  • Check-in time is at 4:00 pm
  • Check-out time is at 11:00 am
  • Smoking is strictly prohibited. A smoking fee of $500 will be charged if violated. 
  • Building quiet hours are from 10:00 pm to 8:00 am. Please keep noise levels down during these hours out of respect to the neighbors.
  • The host will not pay for a hotel, vacation rental, or transportation expenses incurred because of an interruption in water or electrical service.  If water or electricity is interrupted for more than 3 hours, guests have the option of canceling their reservation and requesting a refund for the nights not used. Under no circumstances will we refund consumed nights.
  • All bookings are contingent on signing a short term rental agreement that will be sent via email. It must be signed within 48 hours of booking or before entering the property, whichever happens first.
  • Maximum occupancy of 2 adults/children
  • Max. occupancy is strictly enforced and exceeding it may result in immediate cancellation of booking or being expelled from the property.    
  • Towels and linens must only be used for their intended purpose. Do not stain them with food, grease or any other substance. Do not use towels to clean up any mess. Stained towels/linens will be charged. 
  • Do not hang towels from the balcony or windows. A $100 fine may be applied if you break this rule. 
  • Subletting not allowed
